Italian velvet fabric in a deep purple color. A 100% natural fabric woven from cotton with a characteristic, very short pile. An ideal choice for sewing a suit or jacket, as the velvet is substantial, non-stretch with a dense weave and a matte finish. Velour is a thin variety of velvet. It has on one side a low, soft and fluffy hair covering, often called a nap. Most fabric types are made by interlacing two yarns in a way specific to them. In the case of velvets, four additional threads create the pile. These are introduced between the two main yarns as cut loops (cut velvet) or uncut loops (looped velvet). It is precisely because of this construction that the material is so soft and very pleasant to the touch.
