Wiskoza and flax - what is this material?

Viscose – what is this fiber?

Viscose is made of artificial fibers. Its key building material is cellulose. Modal (ordinary wood), bamboo, siblon (softwood) and tensel (ekvalipt) are used as raw materials for the production of cellulose. It is attributed to artificial fibers, which are made from natural ingredients. Its production at the beginning resembles the production of paper. Under the influence of many technical processes, this material acquires its characteristic properties.

Is viscose a natural material?

The fibers used in the production of fabrics are divided into synthetic, natural and artificial. The first from scratch are created in the laboratory and have no analogues in nature. The second is fully plant or animal products, such as wool, linen, cotton or silk. On the other hand, the group of artificial fibers includes those that are produced on the basis of natural raw materials and are their faithful equivalents. Viscose fiber was assigned to artificial fabrics. According to the aforementioned division, it is neither synthetic nor natural material. It is made artificially from natural raw materials.

The fabric made of 100% viscose is soft and light. Its properties can resemble cotton, because it is very pleasant to the touch. It fits nicely on the body, it is slightly flowing. Viscose clothes are breathable and, above all, airy.

Linen – a perfect gift of nature

Flax is a natural material entirely made of plant fibers. It is a raw material used by people for many centuries, and the first use of flax fibers was recorded as early as around 7500 BC. The first linen fabrics were produced in ancient Egypt around the XXVII-XXII centuries BC. They were woven on vertical looms, and the linen canvas created at that time had different weights and delicacies. It was also so, because it was sewn both exquisite priests' robes and simple shirts for the poor.

The benefits of flax have been appreciated for generations. The material is anti-allergic, breathable, skin-friendly, and modern production methods make it gain silk-like characteristics. The fabric has come a long way from the time of strict peasant shirts, to exclusive napkins and tablecloths or elegant linen clothing.

Linen and viscose – artificial or natural fabric?

Due to their origin, artificially produced fibers can be easily mixed with natural ones. In this way, the material was created, which is a mixture of flax and viscose. Viscose itself is a chameleon among fabrics! You can give it silk qualities such as shine or wool, for example, fluffiness. What are the useful characteristics of viscose? The fabric is very airy and skin-friendly. However, the structure is similar to natural fabrics and obtains the best properties of natural fiber. In this way, viscose properties such as hygroscopicity, color saturation and durability are similar to natural ones.

Flax with viscose for summer

Viscose – a material with exceptional performance values – in combination with linen creates an almost perfect mixture. It is universal, because you can sew clothes for any occasion, as well as create beautiful textile decorations. It provides high wearing comfort, giving the impression of being absent on the body even on hot days. This is due to its airiness and one of the biggest advantages.

Linen by nature gives a feeling of coolness and is very easy to care for. The viscose content means that the material does not crease as much as pure linen fabric. The clothes are pleasant to the touch and fit wonderfully. Thanks to the fact that the material is wonderfully light and extremely durable.

Linen with viscose does not electrify, does not cause allergies and does not irritate the skin. Ideally suited for summer dresses, skirts, blouses, jackets, but also for bedding, decorative pillowcases or bedspreads.
