A shirt is an element of clothing that cannot be missing in our wardrobe. It will work both during formal trips and business meetings, as well as during informal events. Wearing it you can look stylish and elegant regardless of current fashion trends.
In order for the shirt to look impeccably and comfortable, it is important that it is made of the right material. There are many different shirt fabrics on the market with different weights, colors, weaves and fibers, so how to choose the right one?
Shirt fabrics – natural or synthetic?
Shirt fabrics can be made of natural, synthetic and artificial fabrics. Natural shirt fabrics, such as cotton or linen, are characterized by good breathability, high hygroscopicity and good thermoregulatory properties. In winter, they help retain heat, in summer they provide good ventilation and drainage of sweat from the body.
Synthetic fabrics include, for example, polyester, polyamide and elastane. They are characterized by high endurance, but they are poorly breathable, which makes the body sweat quickly.
The third group of fibers from which shirt fabrics are made are artificial fibers. In this group, viscose and tencel deserve special attention, which combine the advantages of natural and synthetic fibers, i.e. high breathability, hygroscopicity, durability and comfort.
The most popular fabrics for elegant shirts are:
Twill - that is, shirt fabric, which is thicker and less susceptible to ruffles.
Satin and silk - they do not crumple too easily and have a nice shine. Satin shirt fabrics are perfect for evening shirts.
What materials to sew a casual shirt from?
The above-mentioned shirt fabrics are perfect for party and evening shirts. However, the shirt is a very versatile piece of clothing that many of us also choose every day. Therefore, it is worth knowing a few shirt fabrics suitable for casual shirts:
Shirt cotton - most often made of cotton fibers with the addition of lycra. It has a characteristic delicate shine. It is characterized by exceptional durability and hygroscopicity. The skin can breathe in it, such a fabric is well permeable to air and allows moisture to drain away.
Linen - is an extremely ecological fabric - like any natural material, linen is biodegradable and safe for the environment. The material woven from linen is also extremely durable and will serve us for many years.
Denim - this is the fabric that we all know. Although lighter jeans are most often combined with trousers, they also look good as a material for shirts. With their fashionable character and different shapes, they offer great opportunities in men's and women's fashion.
